This is always a topic or sometimes an excuse when it comes to lifestyle and nutrition changes. Yes, it can be done. You can eat your eating pattern plan when you're traveling. However, y'all know I am all about balance. When you're on vacation with the family, please let yourself enjoy a fun drink or a fun meal. The trick is ..Balance. You dont want to go so off the deep end that you have a bloated stomach and look 6 months pregnant or your add to the fun of "traveler's constipation." --- I have tricks that one too.
So, here are the 5 Top Mindful Eating tips when you're traveling.
Get in a Lemon water every morning -- this helps alkaline your system and flush out your liver first thing.
Green Juice -- I know, you knew I was going to suggest this one. Scope out the city you're traveling to for a local juice or smoothie shop. They're all over the place these days. Stay at a Westin Hotel, they have a great "healthy" menu including fresh pressed juices. Absolutely, worse case... pack your green juice. How? Freeze them in breast milk bags and put them into a soft travel cooler you can easily throw into your carry on. You can actually travel through TSA with frozen liquids.
Pound down the FRUIT. If you're traveling to a tropical destination eat fruit. Fresh fruits and veggies will help keep you regular and hydrate your digestive system.
Pack your snacks, yall. Bring easy to pack, clean snacks. If you ask any of my friends who travel with me, they know I will always have snacks with me. I have one kiddo who has a gluten allergy so packing safe snack options comes natural and I know alllllll the good ones. Chomp sticks - score on the protein. Wilde Chips - protein. TrailMix - omega 3/6's. Fruit Leather - easy blood sugar uptick. Protein Bar - easy protein.
Give yourself permission to enjoy. Sometimes we just need hear that it's ok. Guilt can produce cortisol and inflammation. I talk about energy a lot in my consults with clients. Give your food positive and guilt-free energy.
